Accommodation
Conference accommodation for conference speakers and discussants will be organised by the Faculty of Law, Oxford at the Randolph Hotel which is located in central Oxford on Beaumont Street, at the corner with St Giles (see map). Others wishing to attend the conference may also wish to contact this hotel for accommodation. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Saïd Business School and about 15 minutes (in the opposite direction) to the Law Faculty. Please note that Oxford City Centre is mostly closed to private cars and so it would be difficult to drive between the conference venues.
Travel information
By train: Oxford train station, which has a direct service from Paddington Station in London, is on the western side of the City Centre (see map). Travel time is approximately 60 minutes. It is an approximately 10 minute walk to the Randolph Hotel. There is a taxi rank at the train station.
By car: Oxford is not a car-friendly city, and parking close to the Randolph, Saïd Business Scholl or the Law Faculty is not easy and is expensive. If you are coming by car, the easiest option is to use the City's Park and Ride system. WE STRONGLY RECCOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT TRAVEL BY CAR TO OXFORD.
If you do wish to drive into the City Centre, the hotel can assist with car parking. Alternatively, information about the city’s car parks can be found here. The nearest car park to the Randolph is Gloucester Green car park although this is a relatively small car park and can get full. The Westgate car park is the largest car park in Central Oxford and is about a 10 minute walk from the Randolph.
By plane: If you are flying into Heathrow, either take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station in London and from there a train to Oxford, or take the ‘Airline’ bus directly to Oxford. Details about the bus service can be found here. For terminals 1-4, there is a central bus station, and for terminal 5the buses all stop in front of the terminal. The bus arrives at Gloucester Green Bus Station, which is a 5 minute walk to the Randolph Hotel. There is also a taxi rank at the bus station.
By bus: The Oxford Tube and the Oxford Express both leave London's Victoria Station every 12-20 minutes, making stops at Marble Arch, Baker Street, Notting Hill Gate, and Shepherd's Bush before heading to Oxford's Gloucester Green Bus Station, which is a 5 minute walk to the Randolph Hotel.
