A free all-day conference under the auspices of the European Commission and the Japanese Financial Services Agency, organised by the European Corporate Governance Institute and the University of Tokyo. Eric Ducoulombier
Head of Corporate governance, social responsibility
DG Internal Market and Services, European Commission

Eric Ducoulombier graduated in European law at the University of Lille (France). He joined the European Commission in 1992 after having worked several years for an international consultancy and a law firm. He has held various positions in DG Internal Market and Services, mainly in the financial services area. He was for five years Deputy Head of the Unit dealing with Payments Systems, Consumer Policy and Retail Financial Services, in charge of developing the Commission's retail financial services policy and the single euro payments area (SEPA).

In April 2010 he joined, as Deputy Head, the Unit of DG Internal Market and Services which is in charge of Company Law, Corporate Governance and Financial crime. Since 1 December, he has been in charge of "Corporate governance, social responsibility", a sector comprising corporate governance, company law, social responsibility and the fight against financial crime.
