  Commission publishes Green Paper on EU corporate governance framework

On 5 April 2011, the EU Commission launched a public consultation on possible ways forward to improve existing corporate governance mechanisms. The objective of the Green Paper is to have a broad debate on the issues raised and allow all interested parties to see which areas the Commission has identified as relevant in the field of corporate governance.  The deadline for submitting contributions in response to the consultation is 22 July 2011.   ECGI researchers share runner-up prize in the ICFR/FT Research Prize 2010
Essays authored by two ECGI Fellows, Professor Guido Ferrarini and Professor Patrick Bolton with academic colleagues have been awarded runner-up prizes in the prestigious International Centre for Financial Regulation/Financial Times Research Prize 2010.  See

  ECGI names Eddy Wymeersch as Chairman

On the recommendation of the ECGI’s Nominations Committee, Eddy Wymeersch was invited to become a member of the Board. On his acceptance, the Board unanimously nominated him to serve as Chairman of the ECGI with immediate effect. His Board appointment is subject to ratification at the ECGI’s next General Assembly which takes place in Amsterdam on Friday, 8th April 2011. Antonio Borges has resigned from the role of ECGI Chairman in order to take up the post of Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund. See:

The theme of the seventh conference in the Transatlantic Corporate Governance Dialogue (TCGD) series, which took place in Brussels at the Bibliothèque Solvay on Monday, 25th October 2010, was "Corporate Governance and the new Financial Regulation: Complements or Substitutes?".   Conference: Corporate Governance and Performance: causation?
An academic conference in the Yale ECGI Oxford (YEO) series, this year's event, YEO 2010, focuses on perhaps the most elusive issue in the field: whether or to what extent corporate governance may be identified as having a causal relationship with corporate performance.   Conference: The Governance and Regulation of Financial Institutions - Lessons from the Crisis
During the Spanish Presidency of the EU, the ECGI in conjunction with the CEPR and IESE Business School held an academic conference at the Madrid campus of the IESE Business School  on Wednesday, 16th June 2010.  The theme of the conference was The Governance and Regulation of Financial Institutions Lessons from the Crisis.
