Biography    
Patrick C. Leyens is Professor of Law & Economics at the School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and currently a guest professor at the School of Law, Humboldt University Berlin.

His principal research concerns corporate, commercial, and capital market law. He is a member of the Schmalenbach Society’s expert commission on corporate governance reporting. Earlier In he served as an advisor for the German Federal Ministry of Finance and for the German Federal Parliament on the reform of investor and depositor protection. Until 2012 he co-directed one of the largest doctoral programs in law & economics.

Together with Klaus J. Hopt he co-authored the ECGI working paper on “Board Models in Europe”, number one all-time download of the law series. Some of Patrick’s publications were translated into Chinese. Several research prizes were awarded to him for his monographs on the monitoring tasks of board directors and on the regulation of gatekeepers of capital markets.
