5 DISTINGUISHED ACADEMICS APPOINTED ECGI FELLOWS

Luxembourg, 7 May 2010.  The European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) today announces the appointment of five new Fellows of the Institute drawn from academia in Europe and North America. They augment the 21 inaugural Fellows who were nominated in 2002, 6 in 2003, 5 in 2005 and 5 in 2008, bringing the total number of Fellows of the Institute to 42.

These Fellows were nominated by the ECGI's Fellowship Committee chaired by Professor Oliver Hart, Andrew E. Furer Professor of Economics, Department of Economics, Harvard University

The ECGI, which was founded in 2002, is an international scientific non-profit association. It provides a forum for debate and dialogue between academics, legislators and practitioners, focusing on major corporate governance issues and thereby promoting best practice.

The ECGI awards the title Fellow of ECGI to individuals who have demonstrated scientific excellence or other outstanding achievements in the area of corporate governance.
