Nicholas Georgakopoulos graduated from the Athens University Law School (first) in Greece, received an LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School, where he also held a postdoctoral appointment. He was Associate Professor and then Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut. He became Professor of Law at Indiana University in 2002 and took the H. R. Woodard chair there in 2006.
Professor Georgakopoulos is the author of several books and many articles on business law and economic analysis of law. His research emphases include the law's shaping of investment incentives and incentives to trade securities, as well as the methodology of economic analysis of law, which is epitomized in his book Principles and Methods of Law and Economics (Cambridge U. Press, 2005).
